Katie and Evan hired me to help build a desert retreat in West Texas called Double Moon Ranch. The two domes (320 sqft each) were elevated on decks with views of the mountains.
In each dome, we installed a wood burning stove, A/C mini split system, bathroom, kitchenette and queen size beds. The domes are fully off grid, supplied by a solar system and water storage tanks.

In 2021, Shawn was contracted to build two domes on some land in rural Southern Oregon. The large one was built specifically to house musical and theatrical events on a grass-roots, non- commercial platform. Because of that sweet spot, it was dubbed the “Rogue Thunder Dome.”
Another smaller one was erected right next to it as a tiny home. The domes have stood for 2 years now. They do not leak, which is one of the issues earlier models of geodesic domes suffered quite frequently. If insulated properly, they are comfortable places to hang out in even in winter months.
As the structures are built from light materials, they are easily assembled in a matter of
days, or hours if the landing is prepared ahead of time. There are a few versions, and designs applications that can fit the needs of almost any situation where a dome is the preferred result.
They are, for the amount of space they provide, quite affordable for anyone who has a
place to put them. And though one probably would want to make them a permanent part of
their property, they are essentially portable, and can be taken down and moved if desired, or necessary.
A family affair to create this 440 square foot dome to host women’s circles. We built a simple deck for the dome to wraparound and added faux wood floors, a large decorative blackout curtain, insulation and ventilation. We ran electricity from the house to power a beautiful chandelier, mood lighting and to power an AC unit.
The space turned out beautiful and in addition to the circles, she used it as a space to host overnight guests. Everyone loved the ambiance and homey feel of her Goddess She-Shed creation.
A stunning 550 square foot dome with glass bay windows was installed on a family ranch surrounded by the Balcones Canyonland Wildlife Preserve. The views of the Texas HIll Country from inside of the dome is amazing the large interior space provides for a two bedroom rental unit for an off-grid experience just an hour from downtown Austin.
