The Geodesic Dome Builder Shaping Sustainable Futures

My name is Shawn. I have always been an avid lover of travel, architecture and building community. So naturally, when I discovered beautiful, unique geodesic domes invented by Buckminster Fuller, I was all in.

I’ve also been a builder and designer for much of my life, so when my sister Camille was looking for a quick and affordable space to host her community women’s “circle”, we knew that a geodome would be the perfect fit.

Camille’s geodome circles were an instant hit and several of her friends asked me to help make their dome dreams a reality, too.

This was the start of Geodomestic.

Since then, I’ve sourced and set up geodomes on the blazing plains of Texas to the misty forests of Oregon and discovered there ain’t no place you can’t put a dome!

THE HISTORY OF OUR BUSINESS
START A CENTURY AGO

A geodesic dome is a structural design characterized by a spherical or partially spherical shape made up of a network of interconnected triangles. It’s a remarkable architectural innovation with a fascinating history:

Buckminster Fuller’s Vision (1920s-1930s): The history of geodesic domes can be traced back to the early 20th century when American architect and inventor R. Buckminster Fuller began developing his ideas for efficient and sustainable structures. In the 1920s and 1930s, Fuller experimented with various designs, including the Dymaxion House, which featured a geodesic framework. However, his ideas didn’t gain widespread recognition at this time.
